Year 5

Class Name: Hazel

Year Group: 5

In Year 5 we aim to promote a love of learning. This year is designed to be challenging as we prepare ourselves for Year 6, but we endeavour to have fun while we learn.

We link our learning to our Learning Challenges and develop our understanding through cross curricular links. We particularly enjoy our text-led approach to English as we have opportunities to read a variety of interesting texts. This year we have enjoyed exploring “Rose Blanche”, “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”, “Beowulf” and “Running Wild”.

We have a range of History, Geography and Science challenges throughout the year which includes: World War 2, Ancient Egypt, the Anglo-Saxons, Space and the Rainforest.

Children in Year 5 take responsibility for their learning in school and outside of school through completing exciting home learning challenges and are expected to take a more mature and independent approach to their learning. They aim to be good role models to younger pupils, set good examples and promote a love of learning.
